Early treatment
Kid's orthodontist
Getman Orthodontics proudly offers early orthodontic treatment in Germantown & Arlington, Tennessee.
The American Association of Orthodontics recommends that kids receive an initial orthodontic evaluation no later than age seven — or earlier if you notice irregularities before then.
Two-Phase treatment
Phase I: Interceptive braces
These early braces are used on younger children to correct and modify the positions of the teeth and jaws. Taking this step at an early age helps to reduce the complexity of treatment when your child is older. This step can also help you avoid the need for surgical corrections years down the road. Phase I orthodontic treatment is only necessary in some cases.
Phase II Orthodontics
After a child has undergone Phase I braces, it is recommended to wait a few years for their mouth to finish developing. During this waiting period, you will have periodic appointments to ensure the optimal time to start Phase II treatment. Once all permanent teeth are in, the second phase of treatment will fine-tune your child’s bite.
